Mission

To promote the principles and teachings of Utilitarianism as a means of understanding the nature of morality and how to make ethical decisions, and as a path to achieving the greatest overall happiness for the greatest number of people.

VISION

A world where individuals actively practice and integrate the principles of Utilitarianism into their daily lives, to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life guided by the values of morality and the pursuit of the greatest overall happiness for all.

Goals

  1. To increase understanding and awareness of Utilitarianism among the general public.
  2. To provide resources and support for individuals interested in learning and practicing Utilitarianism.
  3. To foster a community of individuals who support and encourage one another in their exploration and integration of Utilitarian principles.

Program

  1. Create a comprehensive website that provides information on Utilitarianism, its history, and key teachings.
  2. Develop a series of online courses that cover the basics of Utilitarianism and provide guidance on how to apply its principles to daily life.
  3. Host regular online meetings or webinars where individuals can discuss and learn from one another’s experiences with Utilitarianism.
  4. Create a reading group where participants can read and discuss texts related to Utilitarianism, such as “Utilitarianism” by John Stuart Mill and “An Introduction to the Principles of Morals and Legislation” by Jeremy Bentham
  5. Organize in-person workshops and retreats that provide guidance and practice in understanding the nature of morality and how to make ethical decisions through the lens of Utilitarianism philosophy.
  6. Develop resources such as worksheets and exercises that are specific to Utilitarianism to help individuals integrate it into their daily lives.
  7. Encourage members to share their experience and insights about their practice on social media and other platforms.
  8. Encourage the understanding of the relationship between Utilitarianism and other philosophical perspectives, such as Deontology and Virtue ethics, and how they can complement each other.
  9. Provide resources for those interested in the traditional customs and practices of Utilitarianism, such as decision making, ethical reasoning, and moral philosophy.
  10. Encourage the practice of moral reasoning, ethical decision making, and the pursuit of the greatest overall happiness for the greatest number of people as a means of understanding the nature of morality and how to make ethical decisions.
